Winter Wonderland Wedding Photos – Gold Hill, NC

Ken Thomas of Ken Thomas Photography in North Carolina captured these amazing winter wonderland wedding photos and shared the details behind them:

“I shot this wedding on December 26, 2010 in Gold Hill NC. The couple was Brittany and Jason from Mooresville NC. It snowed the night before and continued to snow during the ceremony. Yes Mother Nature blessed them with a beautiful Winter Wonderland wedding. The wedding ceremony started about two hours before sunset. After the couple said their I do’s we went back inside to warm up a little, then went back out and shot up until sunset. The camera that I used that day was a Canon 7D with the Canon 17-55 2.8 IS lens and my flash was the Canon 580EX II. I shot all of the snow shots with the camera and flash in manual mode with a ISO setting a 400. I kept my aperture at 5.0 and my shutter speed was mostly kept at 1/125 sec. As we lost light with the sun setting, I lowered my shutter speed to maintain ambient light exposure. My lowest shutter speed was 1/60 sec. I kept my flash mostly around 1/2 power and raised the power with more distance between me and the subject. With all that white snow around my subject I kept my white balance set on auto.”
