Michigan Wedding Photographer Gerald Donnelly of OnSite Photography shares his story of a truly unique wedding onboard the yacht Infinity motoring down Lake St. Clair and the Detroit River.
My clients are boaters so the reception took place on a 125 ft. motor yacht on Lake St. Clair. We left port at Jefferson Beach Marina in St Clair Shores, MI on a late September evening. Food was served on the main deck & entertainment on the upper decks outside area. It was a floating dinner cruise & party boating down Lake St. Clair into the Detroit River to the Ambassador bridge with stunning cityscape views with Windsor Ontario on one side & Detroit on the other.
After dinner we took the bride for photos at the bow of the yacht. The sky in the background was really spectacular & made this photo. Kathy, our Bride was really having a good time, she posed with family members & guests with the gorgeous sunset in the background.
Everybody ate & drank on the 1st part of the cruise, and after the party kicked into high gear on the upper deck. The wind pick up & so did the waves rocking the boat and guests from left to right! Nobody seemed to mind, they just got up and kept on dancing. Their line dancing was especially fun to watch.
We were almost back when we decided to take a photo with the groom behind the wheel in the pilot house. That shot was a little tricky for me. It was dark outside & the pilot house was dark with only the instruments glowing. You can see the captain in the background with his back to the camera.
